Turkey Launches Digital Nomad Visa for Remote Workers

Türkiye has joined the ranks of countries offering a digital nomad visa for foreign remote workers. The Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry has created a dedicated website where interested individuals can complete the initial application stages. The country aims to attract digital nomads to popular destinations such as Istanbul, Dalaman on the southwestern coast, and Izmir on the west.

Eligibility for Turkey’s Digital Nomad Visa

To be eligible for Türkiye’s digital nomad visa, applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 55. Individuals from most EU countries, as well as the UK, USA, and Canada, are accepted. Additional prerequisites include holding a university degree, having an employment or business contract, and being able to prove a monthly income of $3,000 (€2,800) or an annual income of $36,000 (€33,800).

Applying for Turkey’s Digital Nomad Visa

Applicants can register and upload their documents, including a passport with at least six months of validity and a photo, on the dedicated digital nomad website called “Gotürkiye.” If the application is accepted, a digital nomad identification certificate will be issued. This certificate can then be taken to a Turkish visa center or consulate in the applicant’s place of residence.

Prime Locations for Digital Nomads in Turkey

The digital nomad website also highlights various destinations in Turkey that are ideal for remote workers. Istanbul, with its bustling business center, diverse culture, and historical significance, offers a transportation infrastructure that includes multiple metro and bus lines, as well as ferry journeys between its European and Asian sides. Fully furnished apartments are also readily available for rent in the city.

Dalaman, located on the Aegean coast, provides excellent transportation options, a peaceful escape from crowds, a wide range of recreational activities, and a robust infrastructure for those looking to work in a paradise-like setting. Izmir, also situated on the Aegean Sea, boasts year-round warmth and beautiful blue flag beaches, making it an attractive destination for digital nomads seeking a coastal lifestyle.
