Steam Users Spend Billions on Games They Never Play!

It turns out that many of us are guilty of purchasing games during Steam sales that we never end up playing. A recent analysis has put a dollar figure on just how much money is tied up in these untouched games across all Steam libraries worldwide.

Unplayed Steam Games Cost Users a Staggering Amount

According to research conducted by PCGN and SteamIDFinder, Steam users have spent an astounding total of $36 billion on games that have never been played. This analysis, which examined publicly listed accounts on SteamIDFinder’s database, covered 73 million accounts and found that games worth $3.38 billion hadn’t been touched.

When extrapolated to include all Steam accounts, it’s estimated that the global Steam user base has spent $36 billion on unplayed games. To put this into perspective, this amount is roughly equivalent to the GDP of countries like Serbia.

If you’re curious about how much money you’ve personally wasted on unplayed games, tools like SteamIDFinder can help. By entering your SteamID and hitting the Search button, you can see a breakdown of your library’s idle investments.

New Features Coming to Steam

In related news, Valve has introduced a new dimension to Steam’s existing features with the launch of a background game saving and sharing system in beta. This new feature offers two recording modes: Background Recording, which continuously saves your gameplay, and On-Demand Recording, allowing users to start and stop recordings at their leisure.
