What is Samsung Bot Fit and What Will It Do?

Initially showcased in 2019 as a concept called GEMS Hip, Samsung’s wearable robot faced several delays before being rebranded as Bot Fit. According to recent reports from Korea, Samsung has completed the development and mass production of Bot Fit, aiming for a market release between August and September 2024.

Bot Fit is designed to assist with walking, exercising, and improving gait by attaching around the hip and knees. It aims to reduce the metabolic cost of walking by 24%, making it easier for individuals with mobility challenges to increase their walking speed by 14% through the use of motors and sensors.

Additionally, the wearable robot monitors users’ walking patterns and provides feedback to help optimize their gait over time. It also supports various exercise routines to enhance walking efficiency. Samsung plans to produce 100,000 units initially, and while pricing details are yet to be announced, Bot Fit is expected to have a unique position in the market.
