Release Date Announced for “28 Years Later

The release date for “28 Years Later,” the long-awaited sequel to “28 Days Later,” has been announced. Co-created by Alex Garland and Danny Boyle, the film will mark the first installment of a new trilogy.

Among the most beloved zombie films of all time, “28 Days Later” and “28 Weeks Later” are finally getting a follow-up with “28 Years Later.” Bringing back the original team behind “28 Days Later,” the new film is set to hit theaters next year.

The studio behind the rapidly shaping project, Sony Pictures, has revealed that “28 Years Later” will premiere on June 20, 2025, much to the anticipation of moviegoers.

Directed by Danny Boyle, who also helmed “28 Days Later,” and written by Alex Garland, the screenwriter of the original film, “28 Years Later” promises to reunite two renowned filmmakers. Garland, known for transitioning from successful screenwriting to directing, has recently gained acclaim for his own directorial works such as “Ex Machina” and “Annihilation.” The collaboration between these two significant figures in cinema adds to the excitement surrounding “28 Years Later.”

Designed as the first film of a new trilogy, “28 Years Later” features a star-studded cast including Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell.
