Sony has officially announced the PlayStation VR2 (PSVR 2) PC adapter, enabling the previously PlayStation 5-exclusive headset to be used on PCs. The adapter will be released on August 7th. Here’s everything you need to know about its price and features.
Sony PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter Coming in August: Supported Games and Features
Sony states that this adapter will support all Steam VR games, including major titles like Half-Life: Alyx. To play these games on a PC, a DisplayPort cable will be required, along with a Steam account. Here are the minimum system requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or later
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 or better
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480 or better
- RAM: 8GB or more
- USB Ports: One USB 3.0 port
Although the PSVR 2 headset is primarily designed for the PS5, some features will not be available on the PC. These include HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (apart from standard vibrations).
However, high-resolution and sensory features such as 4K visuals (2000 x 2040 pixels per eye), a 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, pass-through viewing, and foveated rendering (without eye tracking) will be supported on the PC. Additionally, 3D audio will be available in supported games.
Sony had previously confirmed that PC support for the PlayStation VR2 was coming this year but had not provided a specific date until now. The adapter will launch in August, approximately a year after the PSVR 2’s initial release.
