OpenAI, the leading firm in artificial intelligence, made significant announcements today. The company revealed the formation of a security committee led by Bret Taylor (Chairman), Adam D’Angelo, Nicole Seligman, and Sam Altman (CEO) on its board of directors. OpenAI Initiates Development of GPT-5

In a blog post, the company announced that it has recently begun training its next model, the Large Language Model (LLM), emphasizing that the resulting systems will make significant advancements toward achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). While the company did not provide a name for the new model, it is expected to be called GPT-5 following GPT-4.

CEO Sam Altman, in previous statements made in recent weeks, described ChatGPT as “at best somewhat embarrassing” and predicted GPT-4 to be “the dumbest model any of you will ever have to use.” As OpenAI continues training its new model, the newly established Safety and Security Committee’s first task will be to evaluate OpenAI’s processes and security measures over the next 90 days. The committee’s findings and recommendations will be shared with the entire board of directors after this period. OpenAI also commits to sharing developments regarding the recommendations with the public following the evaluations. Additionally, OpenAI’s technical and policy experts Aleksander Madry, Lilian Weng, John Schulman, Matt Knight, and Jakub Pachocki will be part of the committee.
