No Developers Are Currently Working on Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red’s latest data reveals that no developers are currently working on Cyberpunk 2077. Here are the details…

The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in December 2020 is remembered as one of the most disastrous in recent gaming history. The game was plagued with graphical glitches, mission bugs, performance issues, broken promises, disappointed players, and frequent crashes. However, over the past 3.5 years, significant progress has been made through numerous updates and a major DLC expansion. Despite these efforts, it has now been revealed that no developers are currently working on the game.

No Developers Left on Cyberpunk 2077

According to CD Projekt Red’s latest financial reports, not a single developer is currently assigned to Cyberpunk 2077. This is a significant change for the company, as the same report indicated that as recently as February, there were still 17 developers working on the game.

In February, CD Projekt Red released the 2.12 update, which addressed numerous bugs. Following this update, it appears that the developers were reassigned to other projects within the company.

CD Projekt Red’s financial reports provide detailed breakdowns of the number of developers working on each project. The latest report clearly shows that the company is now focusing its resources on a new project codenamed Polaris, which is part of the next The Witcher game series. However, the much-anticipated fourth The Witcher game is not expected to be released anytime soon.

Transition to New Projects

CD Projekt Red officially halted further development on Cyberpunk 2077 after the release of its first expansion pack, Phantom Liberty, in September 2023. Phantom Liberty introduced significant features such as a new skill system and brought substantial changes to the game dynamics with the 2.0 update. Subsequent updates like 2.1 improved the game’s AI, while 2.11 fixed numerous bugs, and 2.12 served as a final polish to the game.

The majority of the Cyberpunk 2077 development team has since been reassigned to the new The Witcher game.
