New Generation AirTag Release Date and Updates on Mac Pro and Mac Studio

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has shared new information about Apple’s upcoming products, including the new AirTag, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio. According to his report, the new generations of these devices will not be released until next year.

In 2021, Apple introduced the AirTag, a device designed to help locate lost items or pets. With three years having passed, there has been much speculation about when the second generation would be released. Gurman states that the second generation AirTag, codenamed “B589,” will not be coming this year.

According to Gurman, Apple plans to unveil the new AirTag around mid-2025. The company is currently working with its partners in Asia to complete production tests and is targeting next year for the launch. This aligns with previous leaks. Last October, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned that the company had postponed the release from the last quarter of 2024 to 2025. Gurman’s recent report confirms this timeline.

The new AirTag is expected to feature an entirely new chip and significantly improved location tracking capabilities. There are also indications that it will integrate with Apple Vision Pro, though specific details are not yet available.

Additionally, Gurman provided updates on the Mac Studio and Mac Pro. According to him, Apple does not plan to release new versions of these devices until mid-2025. The latest updates for both Mac Studio and Mac Pro came in 2023 with the M2 series. This suggests that these devices could remain unchanged for about two years.

Overall, it appears that Apple is taking its time to ensure the next generation of its products meets high standards, while also strategically planning their release to maintain interest and demand in the market.
