Major Changes to iPhone Batteries: Shiny Metallic Covers Coming Soon

In an effort to comply with the European Union’s regulatory demands, Apple is set to introduce significant changes to iPhone batteries starting this year. The new design will feature shiny metallic battery covers, beginning with the iPhone 16 series, as part of Apple’s ongoing adaptation to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) policies.

Shiny Metallic Battery Covers to Debut in iPhone 16 Series:

Reports indicate that the metallic battery covers will be first implemented in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This move aims to address the overheating issues that have been a concern in previous models. The shiny metallic covers are not just for aesthetics; they are expected to enhance the thermal management of the devices.

Compliance with EU Regulations:

The European Union has mandated that from next year onwards, smartphone manufacturers must ensure that batteries can be removed by non-authorized technicians. Apple plans to introduce batteries in new iPhones that can be removed with a small electrical pulse, making them more accessible for replacement.

However, there are concerns about how easy the repair process will be. Apple may need to abandon its use of proprietary screws and glued-in screens to fully comply with EU regulations, which remains a significant challenge.

Anticipated Models and Specs:

Leaks suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a 6.9-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro will come with a 6.3-inch display. The iPhone 16 Plus will retain a 6.7-inch screen, and the iPhone 16 will maintain a 6.1-inch display. The dimensions for the iPhone 16 Pro are expected to be 149.61 x 71.45 x 8.25 mm.

These upcoming changes highlight Apple’s efforts to not only comply with international regulations but also to enhance the user experience with improved safety features. What are your thoughts on these updates? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
