Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models this coming October, and the latest leaks have revealed significant details about their battery capacities. Here’s what we know so far about the batteries in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Battery Capacities Unveiled
Leaked details on X (formerly Twitter) suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature L-shaped batteries. This design change will slightly increase the battery capacities compared to their predecessors:
- iPhone 16 Pro: 3,577 mAh (a 9% increase from the iPhone 15 Pro’s 3,274 mAh)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4,747 mAh (a 7% increase from the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 4,422 mAh)
Larger Screens
Both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are expected to sport larger displays:
- iPhone 16 Pro: 6.3 inches (up from 6.1 inches)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 6.85 inches (up from 6.69 inches)
Despite the larger screens, the expected increase in battery capacity should help maintain, or even extend, battery life.
Improved Battery Life
The iPhone 16 Pro series will utilize TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, which is anticipated to enhance battery efficiency. The iPhone 16 Pro Max could potentially offer the best battery life of any iPhone to date, with projections suggesting it could exceed the 29-hour battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, potentially reaching or surpassing 30 hours.

In addition to the battery improvements, the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature several other enhancements:
