Engine Options and Technical Specifications
The Volkswagen California offers a range of engine options, including diesel, gasoline, and plug-in hybrid. The diesel variant uses Volkswagen’s 150-horsepower TDI unit, while the gasoline version is powered by a 201-horsepower TSI engine. The plug-in hybrid option combines 245 horsepower with all-wheel drive, offering impressive towing capacity of up to 2 tons.
The new California is 269 mm longer and 37 mm wider than its predecessor, measuring 5173 mm in total length and 1941 mm in width. With the pop-up roof closed, the height is 1990 mm, extending to 2108 mm when opened, allowing for comfortable movement within the van. All five models come with standard features such as a pop-up tent, large dual front doors, and rotating front seats.
Trim Levels
The base trim, Beach, comes with a manual pop-up roof, rooftop sleeping space, and six seats. The Beach Tour level adds a 40 Ah camping battery and four sleeping spaces. The Beach Camper trim offers additional features such as a 230V outlet, a single-burner gas stove, a cutlery drawer, and a portable kitchen module.
The California Coast trim level includes a mini kitchen, a sink, a 28-liter water tank, two camper batteries, and a refrigerator. The top-of-the-line California Ocean features heated seats, backlighting in the mini kitchen, and auxiliary air conditioning, along with unique design elements on the exterior.
Color Options and Availability
