Huawei Officially Says Goodbye to Android with the Launch of HarmonyOS NEXT Beta

Huawei has taken a significant step in the tech world by announcing the beta version of HarmonyOS NEXT, marking its final departure from the Android operating system. With this new development, Huawei is transitioning to an independent operating system, moving away from APK files to focus exclusively on native applications supported by Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) Core and the Ark Compiler.

HarmonyOS NEXT: Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
The new operating system brings notable improvements in performance and energy efficiency. Huawei claims that HarmonyOS NEXT offers a 30% improvement in performance and a 20% reduction in energy consumption compared to previous versions. The OS also features enhanced multi-device integration and built-in artificial intelligence capabilities, providing a smarter and more adaptive user experience.

Graphic and Multimedia Enhancements
Significant enhancements have also been made in graphics and multimedia performance. With support from Ark Multimedia Engine and Ark Graphics Engine, the system delivers high-quality graphics and a rich media experience. The beta version is currently available for specific devices such as the Mate 60 series, Mate X5, and MatePad Pro 13.2”. Huawei plans to roll out a broader beta release starting in August, with the stable version expected to launch in the last quarter of 2024.

During this phase, Huawei aims to further develop the operating system based on user feedback. HarmonyOS NEXT promises to offer a superior experience compared to Android, with improvements in performance, energy efficiency, and security. With this new operating system, Huawei aspires to establish itself as the third major operating system in the tech world.

With the release of the stable version, Huawei’s HarmonyOS NEXT will definitively end its reliance on the Android operating system. What do you think? Which do you prefer: HarmonyOS or Android? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
