GTA 6 Release Date Narrowed to Fall 2025 Amid Questions About Delays

Take-Two Interactive’s CEO is “highly confident” that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released next year, despite rumors suggesting a possible delay into 2026. In its latest earnings report, Take-Two announced that the highly anticipated sequel is expected to launch in fall 2025.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, reaffirmed this timeline in an interview with IGN, stating, “We do feel highly confident that we’ll deliver [Grand Theft Auto VI] in fall of 2025.” This comes amid ongoing speculation and concerns among fans about potential delays.

Grand Theft Auto VI was officially unveiled by Rockstar Games last December. The reveal trailer quickly became the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube within 24 hours. The game is set in the modern-day city of Leonida, a fictional version of Florida, where players will control two characters: Lucia and an unnamed male, whom some fans speculate is named Jason.

Since the initial announcement, questions about the release date have been rampant, fueled by every minor update and internal news from Rockstar. Internal conflicts, particularly related to Rockstar’s return-to-office policy, have led to speculations that GTA 6 might be pushed back to 2026. However, both Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar are currently committed to the fall 2025 release window.

At launch, Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Unfortunately, a PC version won’t be released immediately, but it’s hoped that PC players won’t have to wait too long.
