Opera integrates Google’s Gemini AI models into its Aria AI extension, offering users conversational responses. Here are the details…
Opera Integrates Google Gemini AI into Browsers
Opera has surprised its users by integrating Google’s Gemini AI models into its existing Aria AI extension. This move aims to provide users with more up-to-date information and conversational responses. Aria, launched last year, answers user queries, writes code, and performs various tasks. Opera claims that Aria does not rely on a single AI model but selects the most suitable model for the task at hand. With this new integration, Aria now has access to Google Gemini models, enabling it to offer “the most current information with high performance” to users.
Aria AI Across All Opera Browsers
Aria is available across all Opera browsers, including the gaming-focused Opera GX. Google’s Gemini AI models come in various sizes and capabilities. The smallest model, Gemini Nano, is designed primarily for mobile devices. Mid-sized models include Gemini Pro 1.5 and Gemini Pro 1.5 Flash, while the most powerful model is Gemini Ultra, Google’s most capable AI model. Gemini Pro and Gemini Ultra power the Gemini chatbot. With the new integration, Opera users can listen to Aria’s responses “in a conversational manner.”
Google’s text-to-speech AI models support Aria’s voice response feature, similar to ChatGPT’s Read Aloud feature, which reads results aloud. This is not the first collaboration between Opera and Google involving AI models. In April, Aria added a feature that allows users to create images directly from the Opera browser using Google’s Imagen 2 model.
Enhancing User Experience with AI
The collaboration between Opera and Google enriches the user experience with advanced AI capabilities. To try out these new features, update your Opera browser. How do you view Google giving this advantage to its competitor? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
