Germany Imposes Sales Ban on Popular Smartphone Manufacturer! No Longer Available for Purchase

Today, Germany has issued a ban on the sale of a prominent brand’s smartphones. Lenovo and Motorola products will no longer be sold in Germany.

Germany has found a solution to the patent dispute through a sales ban. The long-standing patent dispute between the Chinese phone manufacturer Lenovo and InterDigital has proven costly for the Chinese company. Germany has imposed a sales ban on Lenovo and its subsidiary Motorola’s mobile devices.

Lenovo and Motorola Face Sales Ban in Germany! Lenovo and Motorola have been in trouble with the US-based technology company InterDigital for some time. Disagreements over the licensing terms for the WWAN technology used in Lenovo and Motorola models have led to a legal battle between the companies. The patent for InterDigital’s WWAN module, which manufacturers are required to license, has caused a dispute between the firms. InterDigital, claiming that Lenovo did not comply with the relevant licensing terms, brought the issue to the Munich Regional Court some time ago. The ruling that emerged today was unfavorable for Lenovo.

The court in Germany has decided to halt the sale of Lenovo and Motorola’s mobile devices, including Motorola’s new Edge 50 series, which utilize technologies such as GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G.

Implementing this ban against Lenovo and Motorola, the court required a 4 million euro deposit from the plaintiff, InterDigital. It allowed Lenovo and Motorola to continue sales in Germany until their stocks run out. However, after that, no models from the Chinese company that use the specified technologies will be sold.

Lenovo has announced plans to appeal, stating that InterDigital demanded too much money for the relevant licensing process. Lenovo will take this matter to court, but the outcome remains to be seen.
