Explosions at Military Base in Iraq Leave Three Wounded

Three members of the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), were wounded in a series of explosions at a military base south of Baghdad, according to Muhannad Al-Anazi, a member of the security committee in Babylon Governorate. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday local time.

The PMU released a short statement acknowledging the explosion at their headquarters in the Kalsu military base in the Al-Mashrou district on the highway north of the Babylon Governorate. An investigation team has been dispatched to the scene, and the explosion resulted in material losses and injuries. The PMU stated that further details would be provided once the preliminary investigation is completed.

Denial of Israeli Involvement

An Israeli official has denied any involvement in the reported explosions in Iraq on Friday evening. The United States Central Command also confirmed that the US did not carry out any strikes in Iraq. The Combined Joint Task Force leading Operation Inherent Resolve, the multinational mission to defeat ISIS, also stated that the US-led coalition did not conduct any strikes in Iraq.

Recent Strikes in Iran

It is worth noting that the explosions near the Iraqi capital of Baghdad occurred just one day after strikes targeted a military base in Isfahan, Iran. According to a US official, Israel was responsible for the strikes in Iran.

The situation in the region remains tense, with ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel. However, it is important to await further information and the results of the investigations before drawing any conclusions about the incidents in Iraq and Iran.

As the situation develops, it is crucial for all parties involved to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions. The international community should work together to promote stability and peace in the region.
