New images of the BYD M6 have surfaced, revealing the seven-seater vehicle following tests in China. This new electric SUV model is expected to target the global market.
The New Seven-Seater BYD M6 is Coming
The leaked photos show the BYD M6, which closely resembles the currently available Song MAX DM-i in China. The M6 features chrome accents on both the front and rear designs. It shares similar dimensions with the Song MAX DM-i, boasting a 2785 mm wheelbase, approximately 4710 mm in length, 1810 mm in width, and 1690 mm in height.
The specific motor details for the M6 remain unknown, but it is likely to be equipped with a similar hybrid powertrain as the Song MAX, featuring an 81kW petrol engine and a 145kW electric motor paired with a 1.5L hybrid system. This plug-in hybrid system, developed by BYD and incorporating the DM-i battery, could offer a driving range of over 1000 km.
The images from China show the M6 prototype sporting an electric vehicle badge, indicating that it may be introduced to the global market with an all-electric powertrain.
Potential Global Launch and Features
While details about the BYD M6 remain scarce, it is anticipated to join BYD’s international lineup, which includes models like the Yuan Plus, Han, Tang, and Song MAX DM-i. This move aligns with BYD’s strategy to expand its presence in the global market.
Recently, BYD also unveiled the Hiace 07, a direct competitor to Tesla, showcasing the new e-platform 3.0 Evo. This platform represents the latest advancements in BYD’s electric motor and battery technologies, featuring the company’s Ocean Network design language.
