Biggest Cybercrime Market in Germany Busted by Police

In a major operation, the Düsseldorf Police in Germany successfully dismantled Crimemarket, the largest cybercrime platform in the country. This platform, which had a staggering 180,000 users, served as a hub for trading illegal drugs, narcotics, and cybercrime services. It also provided guides and training materials for individuals looking to engage in various criminal activities.

The police operation resulted in the seizure of the websites used by the cybercrime organization and the arrest of six individuals, including one of its operators. The success of this operation was the culmination of a long-term evidence collection and investigation process. Authorities from various parts of Germany and abroad collaborated in this concerted effort to bring down the largest German-speaking criminal trading platform on the internet.

On the evening of February 29, 2024, 102 search orders were executed simultaneously across the country. The primary focus of the operation was in North Rhine-Westphalia, where three individuals, including a 23-year-old main suspect, were apprehended. Additionally, three more individuals were arrested in other states.

The police seized a significant amount of evidence, including mobile phones, IT devices, data carriers, and a large number of illegal substances. In North Rhine-Westphalia alone, officers discovered 1 kilogram of cannabis and various illicit narcotics, including stimulant tablets. Furthermore, approximately 600,000 euros in cash and movable assets were seized during the operation.

This successful crackdown on Crimemarket serves as a significant blow to the cybercriminal underworld in Germany. It highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat cybercrime and protect the safety and security of the online community.
