Apple’s new iPad Pro with the M4 Chip has Broken the World Record in Single-core Performance by being Cooled with Liquid Nitrogen

In the tests conducted, the M4 managed to achieve a score of 4,000 points in the Geekbench 6 single-core test.

During last week’s event, Apple unveiled the new generation iPad Pro along with the surprise introduction of the M4 chip. The impressive performance improvements brought by the new M4 are also evident in synthetic benchmark tests. Furthermore, thanks to a special cooling method, the new iPad Pro with the M4 processor has broken the world record in the Geekbench 6 single-core test.

The tests indicate the use of the 9-core version of the Apple M4 chip, with the processor reaching 4.41GHz. Additionally, the maximum operating frequency of the M4 is stated to be at 4.40GHz. It is mentioned that Apple may have taken some measures to prevent the processor from exceeding this frequency. Geekerwan and their team reportedly faced significant challenges in running the processor at higher frequencies.

To maintain thermal stability, liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling is preferred. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used as a cooling solution to break records in overclocking operations, making it a frequently used method in such tests. Ultimately, the ARM-based M4 chip achieved a score of 4,000 points in the Geekbench 6 single-core performance, marking a new world record.

However, it is not expected that this record will last for an extended period. Soon, we will see the arrival of the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, which could potentially lead to further improvements in single-core performance.
