Apple Revamps System Settings with macOS 15

Apple is set to overhaul the menus and user interfaces of applications with macOS 15, which will be unveiled at the WWDC event in June. Mac users can expect a fresh design in system settings and application interfaces.

Enhanced System Settings Design

With the macOS Ventura update, Apple renamed the System Preferences app to System Settings, aligning it more closely with the Settings app on iPhone and iPad. In macOS 15, this menu will be further refined to prioritize the most commonly used settings. For instance, the General section, frequently accessed for software updates and storage checks, will be prominently placed at the top. Less frequently adjusted settings like Notifications and Sound will be positioned further down. Additionally, the Apple ID section will be renamed to Apple Account.

Redesigned System Applications

Apple is also planning design updates for system applications. The Siri menu bar icon will be redesigned, replacing the current colorful icon with a simple black-and-white version. The Calculator app will adopt a design similar to its iOS counterpart. Safari will also receive minor design tweaks.

WWDC Announcement

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is scheduled for June 10. During this event, Apple will introduce the latest versions of its operating systems, including iOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11. The developer beta for iOS 18 is expected to be released during or immediately after the event.

Key Highlights of macOS 15

  • System Settings Redesign: Prioritizes frequently used settings at the top.
  • Siri Icon Update: Simplified black-and-white design.
  • Calculator App: Redesigned to match iOS aesthetics.
  • Safari Tweaks: Minor updates to the browser interface.
  • Apple Account: Rebranding of the Apple ID section.

With these updates, Apple aims to streamline user interactions and enhance the overall user experience on macOS. The changes reflect Apple’s ongoing efforts to create a cohesive and user-friendly ecosystem across its devices.
