PlayStation 5 sales have reached an impressive 59.2 million units, solidifying its position in the market after nearly four years since its release. Sony has unveiled the latest figures for PlayStation 5 console sales, which have met expectations despite facing turbulent sales in 2024. But how many PlayStation 5 units were sold in the last quarter?
PlayStation 5 Sales Reach 59.2 Million Sony has announced that PlayStation 5 sales have surpassed 59.2 million units since its launch in 2020. While console sales have met expectations, there has been a decline compared to the previous fiscal year. According to Sony’s financial earnings report for January-March, PlayStation 5 sales totaled 20.8 million units. This figure indicates that the company has achieved its target of 21 million units. However, Sony’s earlier goal was to reach 25 million in sales.
In the fourth quarter, 4.5 million PS5 consoles were sold, compared to 6.3 million units in the same quarter last year. As a result, Sony expects PS5 sales to decrease to 18 million units in the next quarter.
These numbers highlight the ongoing competition between PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. While over 117 million PS4 units have been sold to date, PS5 sales have reached 59.2 million units.
On another note, Helldivers 2 developed by Arrowhead unexpectedly achieved success on PS5 and PC. The game sold over 12 million units in just 12 weeks, surpassing God of War Ragnarök to become the fastest-selling PlayStation 5 game.
These developments underscore the dynamic landscape of the gaming industry, with PlayStation 5 continuing to make waves in the market.
