MediaTek and Nvidia are designing a processor to rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processors. The processor, which is slated to complete its design by the third quarter of this year, could arrive in the first half of 2025. MediaTek and Nvidia are gearing up to become formidable competitors to Qualcomm in the evolving ARM-based PC market with their processor, boasting advanced artificial intelligence capabilities.
Manufactured using 3nm process
The processor, slated to be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process, is expected to compete not only with Qualcomm but also with Apple’s M4. The unnamed chipset from MediaTek and Nvidia is rumored to have a price tag of $300 per unit, leveraging advanced manufacturing processes and packaging technologies.
AI PC segment predicted to grow rapidly by 2027, MediaTek and Nvidia aim to capitalize on this opportunity to gain market share. The collaboration between MediaTek, known for its recent processors such as Dimensity 9300, and Nvidia, a leader in graphics and artificial intelligence, could lead to exciting results in the development of this processor.
Design verification for the chipset is expected to occur in the fourth quarter, with mass production slated to begin in the first half of 2025. Financial analyst Dan Nystedt, sharing details about the chipset, mentioned that it will utilize TSMC’s advanced chip packaging technology, CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate).
MediaTek and Nvidia have previously collaborated and developed chips for the automotive sector. We eagerly anticipate the results of their current partnership.
