GTA 5’s Most Played Platform: PlayStation 4 According to analysis from Ampere, most GTA 5 players are still on PlayStation 4. This means that a large portion of Rockstar’s daily revenue is still coming from last-gen consoles. Every month, GTA 5 and GTA Online attract over 20 million players across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. Notably, after the latest update “Bottom Dollar Bounties,” this number reached 25 million in June 2024.
While millions of players are also on Xbox One and Steam, PlayStation 4 remains the dominant platform, which is critical for the future of PlayStation 5. Current estimates suggest that about half of PlayStation owners worldwide now have a PlayStation 5. Yet, PlayStation 4 players remain highly loyal to their console.
The state of the gaming industry seems more uncertain now compared to five years ago. As the effects of the pandemic linger, many players are still engaging with games from five or six years ago.
