Long-awaited by gamers, the ability to experience Xbox Cloud Gaming on Amazon Fire TV is set to arrive soon. In recent years, Microsoft has made significant investments in cloud-based gaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Now, they are expanding their front to include Amazon Fire TV, allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members from 25 countries to play games via the cloud. The app is expected to be available to Fire TV owners shortly.
Microsoft announced their collaboration with Amazon today. The Xbox app will be available on Fire TV devices starting in July.
Expanding the Xbox Ecosystem
With today’s announcement from Microsoft, the company is aiming to bring the Xbox experience to every possible platform, entering a new partnership with Amazon. As per the agreement, the Xbox app will be introduced to Fire TV devices from July onwards.
The Xbox app will be operational on both the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and the Fire TV Stick 4K. Targeting an audience that might not be familiar with console gaming, this new initiative will offer an affordable and mobile gaming experience.
Microsoft mentioned that initially, with just a Fire TV Stick and any Bluetooth-supported controller, one can start playing via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate right away. Titles like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Starfield, and other Bethesda productions will be readily accessible to gamers.
Here’s what you need to do to play games via the Xbox app on Fire TV:
- Download and launch the Xbox app on your Fire TV device.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account and start playing. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll have instant access to hundreds of cloud-based games.
- If you’re not a member, you can join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a low monthly fee or try playing Fortnite without a membership.
- Connect a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. Compatible controllers include the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense, and DualShock 4.
