Toyota, Mazda, and Subaru Unite to Develop New Internal Combustion Engines

Despite the automotive industry’s current focus on battery electric vehicles (BEVs), Japanese automakers Toyota, Mazda, and Subaru have taken a different stance. Each Company to Focus on Its Signature Engines

Rather than creating a universal ICE, each automaker will concentrate on enhancing its signature engine type. Toyota will work on new inline four-cylinder engines, Mazda will focus on rotary (Wankel) engines, and Subaru will continue developing boxer engines. These new engines are designed to be compatible with various carbon-neutral fuels such as liquid hydrogen, biofuels, and synthetic fuels.
