Tesla Ends Steam Support in Model S and Model X

Tesla has announced that it will discontinue Steam support in its popular Model S and Model X vehicles. Introduced in 2022, this feature allowed Tesla owners to integrate Steam into their vehicles and play thousands of games. The removal of Steam support will primarily affect new vehicle owners.

What About Other Applications?

In a message to new Model S and Model X owners, the automaker stated, “We are updating the gaming computer in your Tesla Model X, and this vehicle will no longer be able to run Steam games.” Other in-car entertainment features, such as Tesla Arcade, Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming services, will remain unaffected by this decision.

Although Tesla has not provided detailed reasons for this move, it is speculated that technical difficulties, licensing issues, or strategic shifts might have influenced this decision. Additionally, there is speculation that Tesla might plan to integrate other gaming platforms or new features in the future.

Tesla emphasized its commitment to enhancing the in-car experience and maintaining its vehicles’ innovative edge through new partnerships or technologies. While this move may disappoint some gamers, Tesla is expected to offer more robust entertainment options in the future.

Tesla’s Model S and Model X: A Brief Overview

Tesla’s luxury sedan, the Model S, has been a pioneer in the electric vehicle market since its launch in 2012. With its long-range battery, the Model S can travel approximately 650 km on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 2 seconds, thanks to its high-performance motors. The Model S offers advanced autopilot features, a minimalist and high-quality interior design, and a large touchscreen, providing a comfortable and technologically advanced driving experience.

The Model X, Tesla’s SUV model introduced in 2015, also offers high performance with its powerful motors and all-wheel-drive system, providing a range of up to 560 km. With its Falcon Wing doors and spacious interior, the Model X is an ideal vehicle for families, offering seating for up to seven people. Like the Model S, the Model X features advanced autonomous driving capabilities and top-tier in-car entertainment and

safety technologies. These characteristics make the Model S and Model X strong representatives of Tesla’s innovative approach and leadership in the electric vehicle market.

Tesla’s decision to end Steam support in these models might come as a disappointment to gaming enthusiasts, but it underscores the company’s focus on evolving and optimizing the overall user experience. With the ongoing development of new features and potential future partnerships, Tesla continues to push the boundaries of what in-car entertainment and technology can offer.
