Sawchuk initially thought the object was merely trash. However, after noticing numerous composite fibers and woven layers, he began to suspect that it might be debris fallen from space. In an interview with CBC, Sawchuk mentioned that he and his son encountered the object while inspecting their field.
Astronomers, based on the impact date and location, suspect that the debris could be part of a SpaceX rocket launched in February. This is not the first incident involving fallen space junk. Recently, a piece of debris from the International Space Station struck a man’s roof in Florida.
