Elon Musk’s “WhatsApp is not secure” Claim Receives Response

Elon Musk reignited a debate on social media by reiterating his claim that WhatsApp exports user data every night. WhatsApp’s CEO wasted no time in responding.

Elon Musk alleged on X platform that WhatsApp exports user data every night, analyzes it, and uses it for targeted advertising, effectively turning users into products, sparking a debate.

WhatsApp CEO: Messages are End-to-End Encrypted

In response to Musk’s claim, WhatsApp’s head honcho stated, “Many have already said this, but it’s worth repeating: This is not true. We take security seriously, which is why we encrypt messages end-to-end. Messages are not sent to us or transferred every night.”

Security Researcher: WhatsApp Shares Metadata with Meta Companies

Security researcher Tommy Mysk pointed out that despite messages being end-to-end encrypted, WhatsApp shares some metadata, including the user’s location, contacts, and the distribution of online times, with other Meta companies.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp’s privacy policy indicates that it uses some user information to display relevant offers and ads in Meta products.
