Egyptian Media Claims Hamas and Israel Show Positive Response to Ceasefire Proposal

According to Egyptian media, the Cairo government has received positive feedback from both Hamas and Israel regarding a proposed ceasefire in Gaza. An unnamed high-ranking Egyptian source told “Al Qahera News” that the proposed agreement involves various stages, including prisoner exchanges, detainees, and a humanitarian ceasefire.

The report indicated that the Egyptian negotiation team had received favorable responses from both sides. These reports suggest that Egypt is making strides in its efforts to end the conflict and secure a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had earlier expressed his commitment to achieving a comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and urged all parties to work toward resolving the humanitarian crisis and finalizing prisoner exchanges.

Hamas’s political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, also stated that the group had approved the ceasefire proposals put forward by Qatar and Egypt. Despite this, Israel’s war cabinet has decided to continue its military operations in Rafah, a southern region of Gaza, indicating potential resistance to the proposed ceasefire.

This has caused concern, especially as the Israeli military has ordered the evacuation of certain neighborhoods in eastern Rafah, suggesting a possible ground operation in the area. Rafah is a key crossing point for humanitarian aid and serves as the main route for Palestinians traveling abroad, which has fueled further apprehension.

While Egyptian media’s claim that both Hamas and Israel have responded positively to the ceasefire proposal offers some hope, the ongoing military actions by Israel in Rafah highlight the complexities and challenges in achieving a lasting agreement between the conflicting parties.
