BYD Shark Unveiled: The Tesla Cybertruck Rival with an Impressive Price Tag

The specifications and price of the BYD Shark have been revealed as the new PHEV pickup made its debut at a launch event held in Mexico. BYD, known for its recent lineup of electric and hybrid vehicles, has now introduced a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pickup model, the BYD Shark, which promises to turn heads with both its features and price. Here are the specifications and price details of the BYD Shark.

Features and Price of the BYD Shark

The Shark marks BYD’s debut in the pickup truck segment, boasting dimensions of 5.4 meters in length, 1.9 meters in width, and 1.9 meters in height, making it slightly larger than the Ford Ranger. Powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine supported by dual electric motors, the Shark delivers 170 kW and 310 Nm of torque from the front motor and 150 kW and 340 Nm of torque from the rear motor. With a total output of 430 horsepower, this PHEV pickup can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. BYD also touts a 100 km range for fully electric driving, achieved through its Blade battery technology integrated directly into the chassis structure. Inside the cabin, drivers will find a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Competing with models such as the Tesla Cybertruck, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Hilux, the most notable aspect of the Shark is its price. Available in two versions, GL and GS, the vehicle will start at $58,000. Initially, the Shark will be launched exclusively in Mexico. Furthermore, it comes equipped with road assistance support, featuring a panoramic view camera system and a 180-degree chassis camera.

The specifications and pricing of the BYD Shark continue to generate excitement in the automotive world, as it gears up to compete in the competitive pickup truck market.
