A Major Competitor to MacBook: Introducing the ASUS ZenBook S 16

At Computex 2024, ASUS unveiled the ZenBook S 16, a sleek and lightweight laptop designed to rival the MacBook. With its impressive design and powerful features, the ZenBook S 16 has quickly garnered attention. Here are all the details.

ASUS ZenBook S 16: A Blend of Elegance and Power

When you first lay eyes on the ZenBook S 16, it’s clear that ASUS has put significant effort into its design. The laptop features a new material called “Ceraluminum,” which undergoes chemical and electrical treatments to achieve a durable and smooth surface. The geometric lines on the lid give it a modern and sophisticated look. It is available in two colors: Zumaia Gray and Scandinavian White.

This 16-inch laptop is incredibly thin, measuring just 0.43 inches thick, and lightweight, weighing only 3.3 pounds. This makes it highly portable, ideal for both office and on-the-go use.

Stunning Display

The ZenBook S 16 boasts a visually stunning display. It features a 3K resolution (2880×1800 pixels) and a 16:10 aspect ratio, utilizing a 120Hz OLED panel. This ensures vibrant and sharp colors with deep, realistic blacks.

Powerful Internals

The laptop is powered by AMD’s latest Ryzen 9 AI 300 “Strix Point” processors, equipped with Zen 5 cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and an advanced neural processing unit (NPU). These processors deliver 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second) performance, enabling efficient handling of AI workloads locally.

In addition to this powerful processor, the ZenBook S 16 supports up to 32GB of 7500MHz memory and offers up to 2TB of M.2 SSD storage. Its 78Wh battery promises long working hours, though the actual performance and battery life will be clearer once we conduct more thorough testing.

Connectivity and Durability

Despite its slim design, the ZenBook S 16 does not compromise on connectivity options. It includes a USB Type-A port, two USB Type-C ports, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader. The laptop also supports Wi-Fi 7 and has a military-standard 810 durability certification. The smart touchpad allows users to adjust brightness and volume settings seamlessly.
